If you plan to use SMS, you'll need to add one or more SMS services
For SMS to work, you need to configure at least one working SMS service.
You can add multiple SMS services and all SMS messages will be seen together as one "virtual" mailbox in Inbox.
You cannot use your own mobile phone number for SMS. You have to create a new one as part of your configuration. We do not support porting of existing mobile phone numbers
For each SMS service you add, you need to specify:
The type of SMS service. SMS services can be one of two types:
- Dedicated number - your SMS messages will be sent from a mobile phone number that you can choose from the selection we provide. Choose this service if you want to engage in conversations on SMS i.e. send and receive.
- Alphanumeric - your SMS messages will be sent with an identifier e.g. "Accountant" that you can set yourself. Choose this service if you don't want to engage in conversations on SMS i.e. send only.
There are charges for using SMS services. The latest prices are shown at the time you set up your SMS service and are billed monthly.
Examples of configurations that are possible
- Use an alphanumeric code to use with reminders only
- Use a dedicated number to use for conversations and quote that number on your contact details
